Experience with Horses
I have been riding for around 15 years, starting from pony club to loaning. I now have my own horse who i have owned for almost 6 years and we are planning on eventing and competing more this year. I’ve been full time at an equestrian center for 4 years and now work on a livery yard. I have my level 2 and 3 apprenticeship with riding. In this time I have got my stage 3 care, ride and lunge, working towards stage 4.
Key Skills
I can do all basic yard duties, as well as lunging, clipping, mane pulling, and have been trained to use a hydrotherapy spa. I have a fair amount of teaching experience with lower levels, taking private and group lessons. However I feel I excel more behind the scenes on the yard.
Strengths and Weaknesses
• What do you most enjoy about working with horses? I enjoy being on the yard and seeing how it runs on a daily routine, whilst caring for all the horses to the best of my abilities. I make the most of all the time I have and work towards always doing extra. • Is there anything you’d like to improve? I would like to improve my knowledge on competition horses, and being able to turn them out at a high level. As well as gaining more experience with the physiotherapy and veterinary side of horses. • Why should employers consider you above any other job seeker? I am aware of industry standards including time and welfare of the horses, I always work to the highest standard I can. I am very willing to work any time and day with long hours.
