Experience with Horses
Hi,
I am a French-qualified horse-riding instructor specialising in Natural Horsemanship, with over 13 years of teaching and riding experience. I hold the International Equestrian Passport Level 2 (BHSII) and the Natural Horsemanship Diploma from the French Equestrian Federation. My expertise lies in training challenging horses and addressing issues such as transportation problems, disrespectful attitudes, groundwork, and more. I have conducted and organised numerous horsemanship clinics throughout France. My teaching spans from beginners to advanced level riders, encompassing disciplines such as dressage, jumping, and eventing. Additionally, I have served as a member of the Jury for official examinations in France.
Beyond my equestrian background, I am also a French teacher at the university level, having taught at Royal Holloway, Oxford, and Warwick. I bring with me two years of experience working at Charterhouse School.
Key Skills
In the course of my career, I have worked with many yards and riding schools, including a teaching training centre. I am happy to work alone or as a team player. I am independent and organised. I can speak five languages (French – my mother tongue, English, Polish, German, and Italian). I’ve been teaching English and French for 9 years and am currently working at the Royal Holloway University of London. Through experience, I have developed a psychological approach and a welcoming environment. I strive to rapidly assess my riders’ abilities and the levels they are working at so I can tailor my lessons.
Here is the list of my equine skills:
- Teaching natural horsemanship skills on foot and in the saddle
- Organising natural horsemanship clinics across France
- Teaching private and group lessons (dressage, jumping, eventing, all levels)
- Re-training of difficult horses
- Training of sports horses
- Training students in horsemanship skills
- Testing the qualification level for student riders
- Member of the jury for 1rst and 2nd level exams
- Administratively in charge of training professional students
- Shopping and selling adviser
- Paris Horse Show participant
- Running a yard of 30 horses
- Thalassotherapy/ recovering and preparing of sports horses
Strengths and Weaknesses
I have ridden pretty much any horse from just-backed youngsters to retired competition horses. I enjoy observing them and helping them achieve their best potential. My strengths are my natural horsemanship skills. I am an expert in groundwork (handwork, liberty exercise, transport issue, etc). It’s always a great satisfaction for me to help owners and horses communicate with each other in order to achieve professional goals.
I am always keen on learning new skills. I would love to explore British pedagogy more, for instance.
Through experience, I developed excellent interpersonal skills. I have over 15 years of experience in the equine world of course and I have also excellent language skills. I can teach, and train people and horses; I can also tutor students from primary school to university levels. Many clients/students have often commented that clear communication, rigour, spontaneity as well as humour are my forte. I adapt quickly to new environments; I am a team player, professional, reliable, resourceful and resilient. I manage commitments, deadlines and potentially stressful situations calmly.
Requirements
I would like to enlarge my professional network.
• Do you need accommodation?
That would be something I would consider if the position is remote from home.
• Do you have any special requirements for any animals you wish to bring with you?
I have none.
• Do you have any ongoing commitments?
I am currently working at Royal Holloway, Warwick and Oxford University until May, but my schedule is flexible all year long. The academic year approximatively lasts from October to May.
• Do you have any holidays booked that an employer needs to know of?
Absolutely none.
