Experience with Horses

I have had an involvement with horses my entire life and have been fortunate enough to have a range of experience from racing, point to pointing, through to working equitation, dressage, eventing, hunting and show jumping. In this time, the majority  of my roles have been sole charge where I have managed various aspects from veterinary intervention, rehabilitation as well as diet management, pasture management and organising transportation and entry fees. I am 5ft5 and weigh just under 8 stone, I have experience of breaking, re-training a range of horses from race horses and the family ponies!

Key Skills

What are you particularly good at? For example: working alone, working with others, clipping, plaiting, turning out for shows, handling stallions, handling/riding young horses, non-equine skills etc

I am an approachable, bubbly individual who is reliable (I haven’t had a day off sick), trustworthy and confident. I take pride in treating any horse as if it was my own, managing them as an individual and offering nothing less than 10 star treatment. It takes me no time to learn the horses characteristics, enabling me to quickly recognise when they are not themselves and therefore I am able to intervene and take the appropriate action quickly. I am a hard worker, who isn’t afraid of the bad weather and ensures the horses remain at the forefront of every decision I make.

I am a confident individual who is more than happy to work on a sole-charge basis however, I enjoy working within a team also. I particularly enjoy working in a family/private yard environment where I can have an input and see the success of the owners/ riders. I can clip, plait and turn out immaculately and have confidence in handling any type of horse- from the family pony, foals through to elite competition horses. I have a flexible approach and can quickly adapt to any situation. I am in the process of investing in my trailer license, I cannot drive a lorry currently but would definitely be keen to fulfil that in the near future. Having completed a degree in Sport Development & Coaching I have  a passion for assisting riders achieve their goals in addition to having a back ground in education I enjoy working with children also. I am looking for a long term role, where I can have an hands on approach and ensure the yard remains immaculate and my employers enjoy success with happy horses.

Strengths and Weaknesses

• What do you most enjoy about working with horses?

Horses bring a different challenge every day, I love watching them go from strength to strength and being apart of their journey with the added benefit of working with horses is active and outdoors! You learn something new every day, and for as long as I am around horses- I have a smile on my face.

• Is there anything you’d like to improve?

I am very self-critical, I have incredibly high standards of myself and if I feel those have not been met or succeeded I can sometimes find that challenging.

• Why should employers consider you above any other job seeker?

I am trustworthy, honest and reliable- a hard worker! I settle for nothing other than perfection and pride myself in delivering nothing other than exceptional care to the horses! I am dedicated, committed and loyal! I am always looking at ways to enrich equine welfare and improve results.

Requirements

• What would you like to do or gain in your next job?

A private setting or a small work team would be ideal, where I can help owners to get the most out of their business or horses whilst ensuring they are enjoying themselves.

• Do you need accommodation?

Yes, please.

• Do you have any special requirements for any animals you wish to bring with you?

I have a fiance who is in the Army- he is away monday to friday but comes home at weekends when on leave. We have a small terrier who behaves impeccably and I also have a TB and a shetland pony. It isn’t imperative that they come to work- I am open to sourcing livery,

• Do you have any ongoing commitments?

No

• Do you have any holidays booked that an employer needs to know of?

August 12th-15th.

My Wedding May 2022.
