Experience with Horses
I am a former event groom with some availability for national or international competition work, yard work or any other equine related role.
I have groomed at Badminton when it was the old format and still included roads and tracks and steeplechase.
Freelance work includes, Hickstead RIHS, Belton 4* eventing, Bonheiden CSI2* SJ, Munstead Horse Trials, South of England Horse Trials, The NAF Five Star Winter Dressage Championships, Hartpury.
I am close to Hickstead, Pyecombe, Eridge, Firle, Borde Hill, Felbridge & South of England, amongst others. Happy to travel if appropriate.
Key Skills
I am happy working as part of a team or alone. I can plait, trim and turn out for shows. I am happy to travel to competitions and love grooming at events. I am equally happy pottering around the yard. I have experience in handling fit competition horses, including stallions. I am good at general stable management and can carry out all day to day tasks including bandaging, minor first aid and other duties.
I am good at handling horses on the ground, lunging, and long reining. I am happy hacking and low level schooling.
Sorry, I do not have HGV.
Strengths and Weaknesses
I love all work with horses and find no job too big or too small. That said, I am very rusty clipping and would need to improve on those skills.
Being a little older and a mum I have good organisational and multi tasking skills!
I have years of experience and due to previous non equine job roles and very good at dealing with people from all walks of life and can handle most situations with tact and diplomacy. I am quite resilient and like to make sure things are done properly, although I may not be the quickest.
I would love to gain my HGV test.
Requirements
I would like to keep up to date with current equine competition and stable management and would appreciate any input in any new role. I would love to do more competition grooming and my ultimate dream is to groom at Badminton again.
I have a dog who I would like to bring to work if possible. As I am only looking for part time/freelance work I do not require accommodation, unless for competitions away.
I currently have a non horsey ‘day’ job, hence only having availability certain days of the week currently.
I currently use and am happy to take annual leave to cover competitions and have leave booked for Hickstead & Rome September 2021.
