Experience with Horses

I’ve grown up with horses and dogs. I’m confident around fit competition horses as well as your happy hackers. I travelled to Florida in April 2018 where I was worked as a groom for a couple of weeks, this included gernal yard duties i.e mucking out, turning out grand priex level dressage horses as well as American hunter types.

My first full time grooms job in the UK was at Monks Stud, July 2018 – July 2020 which was a show jumping livery and stud yard. All general yard duties were included, we would also foal down between 2-6 mares a year and attend show jumping competitions with the yard owners stallion and other livery competition horses. we would regualary hack out and lunge, long line and ride the horses on the flat and jumping them to help keep them fit and ready to go. Plus looking after the dogs that have now taken over slightly in the breeding game.

Key Skills

I work well solo and within a team, experience with handling youngsters and stallions.

Experience with clipping and platting, turning out for shows however a little rusty as I haven’t been working with horses since July 2020.

Not shy of hard work and putting the hours in.

Ensuring all care and welfare for the horses is top priority.

Organised and a keen eye to help amke improvements.

Strengths and Weaknesses

• What do you enjoy most about working with horses?

I enojoy the daily routine of horses and being around them. I really look forward to trainging the youngsters and seeing them improve and grow into young mature adults enjoying their job. I enjoy riding eithe exercising on the flat, jumping or just hacking.

• Is there anything you’d like to improve?

I’d ideally like to improve my riding (in the show jumping discipline) as I’m a bit rusty due to not training since July 2020. But still confident and happy to get on any horse to hack or exercise. My goal this year is to get back into working with horses and improve my riding and experience.

• Why should employers consider you above any other job seeker?

I’m a hard working, passionate individual and I’d like to be given a chance. I’m not stuck in any particular way of performing tasks, I’m easily mouldable and always turn up with a smile on my face and a good sense of humour 😊

Requirements

• What would you like to do or gain in your next job?

I’d like to go to more shows and gain more show experience myself is possible. But mostly I want to have fun at work with the team and enjoy what I do.

• Do you need accommodation?

Accommodation isn’t a necessity, however it would depend on where the job is located.

• Do you have any special requirements for any animals you wish to bring with you?

I do have a miniature dachshund who I have on the weekends, or my days off. I’d like to bring him with me full time but there is a routine in place incase this isn’t a possibility.

• Do you have any ongoing commitments?

I do work part time at a local pub to myself but I can give this up for the right job.

• Do you have any holidays booked that an employer needs to know of?

Only holiday I normally book is a week for my birthday and Christmas time.
