Experience with Horses

Being born into an equestrian family, I have had horses all my life. I have been competing from a young age, competed in many different disciplines from eventing, show jumping, dressage and working hunter, I have also done many seasons of hunting. I have recently competed up to FEI 2*, currently jumping newcomers but wanting to concentrate on my show jumping career and go up the levels and currently competing at/up to medium dressage scores up to 72%. I also produce horses & ponies along side my competition horses which I love doing.

I have worked for many different yards from eventing, show jumping, dealing and hunting yards, my jobs have varied in each yard – from general yard duties, help with breaking & producing young horses, riding for  clients & potential buyers.

My family run a livery yard, I have taken on the role as manager and dealing with the livery owners, stock control and dealing with the horses everyday. I’m very confident with handling & riding all types of horses from highly strung to stallions.

Key Skills

HGV (cat 2) Licence

My skills with horses is that I confident with working alone as I do that most the time on my own yard and have done on other yards, however I also love working as a team. I can turn out to a high standard as have experience with my own horses at national and international competitions, I have also helped with friends who are professional riders at competitions, from clipping, plaiting and stud while making sure the horses are looking their best.

I’m confident with handling young stock and stallions, and also riding young horses. I pride myself with my organisational skills as I have developed these over the years at different yards and at my own yard at home. Having a livery yard at home I have grown up with doing the stables and all other jobs to a very high standard.

Strengths and Weaknesses

• What do you most enjoy about working with horses?

I work with horses everyday, long days don’t phase me. I love working with competition & young horses and with a great & fun team. I also love getting more experience from different yards and professional riders, I love learning on the job and gaining more experiences.

• Is there anything you’d like to improve?

Gaining more experience on a competition yard, would love a job where it was possible to ride young & competition horses and compete. International competitions experience would amazing and being able to improve even more on my turnout skills.

• Why should employers consider you above any other job seeker?

I am extremely hard working, will always go the extra mile in my job. I love travelling and love driving the lorries, which I know can be beneficial to a yard. The standard of care I have for horses is high and enjoy turning out horses for competitions and everyday training. I have a lot of experience competing in many disciplines both internationally and national.
