Experience with Horses

Outline your experience with horses here/the scope of your freelance services. If you’re looking for a non-equine or non- yard-based job please use this space to describe your experience skills/abilities and adapt the questions to suit your line of work.

I have currently been studying a level 2 equine management course at Bicton college, I have achieved a lot and gained a lot more than what I already had from my course and I am ready to come out into the working world. I am a very confident rider and a hard working individual, I have been surrounded by horses all my life and would like to use my skills and knowledge in a work place.

Key Skills

What are you particularly good at? For example: working alone, working with others, clipping, plaiting, turning out for shows, handling stallions, handling/riding young horses, non-equine skills etc

I have worked with a variety of horses from young horses to difficult horses a lot during the past 5 years it has been an experience that I enjoy. I have also helped many people with keeping their event horses fit and been a groom for a couple people in the past. I enjoy working individually or working with others depending on the task. at my current college we look after 36 horses between 14 students and I always achieve my personal goals that I have set for myself during the day such as making sure all the horses are mucked out, fed, turned in or out, ridden and that I have completed jobs around the yard such as cleaned tack, cleaned the feed room or tack room and making sure the yard is genuinely kept up to the correct standards. in the past I have participated in hunting, hunt racing, cross country, common ridings, and small show jumping events.

Strengths and Weaknesses

• What do you most enjoy about working with horses?

I enjoy seeing a positive impact in a horses wellbeing or behaviour and genuinely being able to see them keep up with the best health standards than can be provided. I also enjoy ridding horses in or out of a schooling area or environment and training youngsters.

• Is there anything you’d like to improve?

I would like to work more on certain skills such as clipping.

• Why should employers consider you above any other job seeker?

I think that I am a very hard working individual and find it joyful and rewarding to complete certain tasks up to the correct standards from mucking out a stable to breaking in a youngster, I always work to my full potential and can work on my own doing my own work around a yard or can work well under instructions.

Requirements

• What would you like to do or gain in your next job?

i would like to work on a yard which involves me doing general yard duties but also involves me ridding or training horses, i would also really like to work on an eventing yard.

• Do you need accommodation?

no.

• Do you have any special requirements for any animals you wish to bring with you?

possibly.

• Do you have any ongoing commitments?

• Do you have any holidays booked that an employer needs to know of?

I am currently still doing my college course in England but plan to move to the Scottish borders in July.
