Amazing Opportunity – Experienced persons or someone from another discipline wanting to enter the exciting world of racing is welcome. The last person in this role remained for IRO 12 years!
This role is a wonderful chance to be a part of a world-class flat racing team. As part of one of the most successful and progressive training operations in the world, you would be a reliable and responsible individual in this busy travelling headperson position but also to work as part of a motivated Team.
The job has a very structured schedule so it’s truly possible to have a life outside of work/extended time off out of the 4 month racing season. For example, if you wanted to go off traveling for a month or two out of season, that is absolutely possible. In-season, though, there are racing outings 5/6 times a week, and this includes weekend work.
Candidates will ideally have a good knowledge of the equine and racing industry with previous travelling racing experience BUT this employer is willing to train someone who can drive up to 18t lorry with some relevant ‘other discipline’ experience under their belt!
Duties include but are not limited to: – Driving to the races (HGV Licence essential) – Weighing out jockeys – Tacking up – Managing race day staff – Looking after and turning out horses to a high standard. Bit of yard work when not driving.
Riding out available if competent and interested.
pre-employment, a trial day or two will be required, (all costs covered), but this is always an excellent idea anyhow 😉
Current passport and clean driving license are essential for travelling and driving a variety of lorries from 18t downwards.
Situated on 120 acres of rolling hills in the Irish countryside, this facility is a perfect schooling ground for future stars on the track globally. The Stud boasts three gallops, fences, hurdles, two hundred stables, an outdoor and indoor school and plenty of turn-out space. They also are on the doorstep of one of the most renowned training facilities in the world at the Curragh Racecourse.
