Job Description

We are looking for someone friendly and reliable to join our busy family yard in Greatham. The position is for 3 days a week – ideal start time 8 a.m and finish at 4:30pm ( must cover Tuesdays and Thursdays but there’s flexibility around which other day is worked.)  There’s also a possibility we could do a split day if you need to go and ride yours during the day if everything can be done in this time.

During this time we need someone to take on sole charge of the yard and exercise of the horses. To include all mucking out/ turnout duties / grooming and clipping as well as ordering feed/ farrier/ vet / etc.

We are keen eventers and have 3 148cm ponies that need exercising so you must be able to ride these as well as the 2 bigger horses, the smaller ponies get led out from the bigger ones as well as lunged. You must be able to ride and school to a high standard to make sure the horses are kept fit enough to train and compete at the weekends and being confident enough to jump would be a bonus so we could take the horses schooling during the week.

We keep the horses and ponies at home and they are our extended family members so their care is of the utmost importance to us, and it’s also important that whoever comes to work for us is a good fit and is self motivated and trustworthy so they can fit in with our animal crazy family. You’d need be happy to work alone, with the owner or with the family/ kids/ dogs all running in and out during school holidays.
