Experienced Groom Wanted

Private Family Stable Yard

Location: Gloucestershire
Live-In Role – 3-Bedroom Cottage Included

We are seeking a reliable and knowledgeable groom to join our private family stables, where the focus is on quality care and a personal touch. This is an ideal position for an experienced older groom looking to enjoy their skills in a quieter, well-run environment away from the intensity of busy professional yards.

What the Role Involves:

• Daily care and management of family horses and ponies
• Supporting and encouraging a young girl with her dressage ponies
• General yard duties: mucking out, feeding, grooming, tack cleaning, paddock maintenance
• Preparing for dressage competitions and shows
• Summer care of holidaying racehorses – feeding and daily checks
• Supporting two dressage brood mares in foal – stud experience is a plus
• Liaising with vets, farriers, and the groundsman
• Basic yard, paddock, and fence maintenance with support

Extras That Would Be a Bonus:

• Stud experience
• Confident handling of different horse types
• Riding is not a requirement but being able to hack a pony is an advantage

Essentials

• HGV licence essential
• Experienced horse person with high standards of care
• Confident working independently and part of a small team
• Trustworthy, reliable, and observant – attention to detail is a must
• A calm, kind personality – especially around children and animals

Hours & Living:

• 6 days per week, including one weekend off per month
• Working hours: 7:00am start, finishing as required depending on duties
• Accommodation: A three-bedroom cottage within the stable yard is provided as part of the role
