Job Description
We are offering an excellent opportunity for a Trainee Saddle Fitter to train directly with a Society of Master Saddlers Qualified Fitter with over 30 years of professional experience. This role is ideal for someone passionate about horses and equestrian equipment who wants to develop a long-term career in saddle fitting.
You will gain hands-on experience working with over 1,000 new and used saddles in stock, including leading brands such as Prestige, Ideal, Fairfax, Kent & Masters, ErrePlus, Equipe, and many more. Full training and mentoring will be provided in a supportive, professional environment. Earning while you learn.
On-site accommodation is available at a small cost.
Key Responsibilities:
– Assist the senior saddle fitter during fitting appointments
– Learn to assess horse conformation, movement, and saddle fit
– Support customers in selecting suitable saddles accessories & tack working in a professional retail saddlery store
– Adjust saddles under supervision (including flocking and balance checks)
– Maintain accurate fitting records
– Handle, clean, and maintain saddles and equipment
– Provide professional customer service
– Travel to client yards as required
– Talk to customers on the phone via email and social media about saddles and tack, helping them with decisions and problems that they may have
– Support general shop, stock, or administrative duties when needed
Training & Development:
– One-to-one training with a Society of Master Saddlers Qualified Fitter
– Exposure to a wide range of saddle brands and horse types
– Opportunity to work towards recognised saddle fitting qualifications
Minimum Requirements
Essential:
– Genuine interest in horses, equestrian sport & tack
– Willingness to learn and take instruction
– Good communication skills with colleagues and customers
– Reliable, well organized, tidy appearance
– Physically capable of lifting and handling saddles
Desirable:
– Riding experience
– Yard or equestrian retail experience
– Saddle fitting experience
– Driving licence
