We are seeking an ambitious, hands-on Assistant Manager/Yearling Manager to join a growing thoroughbred Stud where we have placed numerous staff over the years. You will need to be detail-oriented and seeking a long-term opportunity in a developing commercial operation.
Within this expanding Stud, with an increasingly strong commercial broodmare band and quality youngstock (including Group performers, black type families and Group 1 pedigrees), recent success includes producing high-level yearlings and runners competing at Group level, with the operation continuing to develop its profile.
The role offers the opportunity to become an important part of a long-term breeding plan with increasing focus and quality stock.
The role will focus primarily on:
- day-to-day management of yearlings and youngstock
- maintaining high standards of care and presentation
- assisting with sales preparation and routines
- helping oversee horses, staff and daily operations
- working closely with management on feeding, conditioning and overall prep
Required:
- strong horseperson with recent experience handling youngstock
- calm, organised personality
- capable of maintaining high standards and working within a close-knit team
- practical and hands-on approach to daily management and routines
- ability to take responsibility and grow within the role
Preferred:
- experience within commercial yearling prep environments
- experience at respected commercial stud farms or consignors
- experience assisting with mares and foaling
- experience helping oversee staff and daily operations
