*5.5 day week * Luxurious accommodation *Dog/horse/partner considered *20-min drive to New Forest National Park & within a 12-minute drive of Winchester *Salary competitive and generous TBD

Family who hunt and whose teenage daughter hunts; events; does side saddle and show hunters in between her education at boarding school; now looking for a family orientated Groom/Exercise Rider/Person Friday. This is a sole charge position. Family pitch in, of course, but it would be great to have a companionable self-starter to take the pressure off.

5-7 high-quality horses are kept, but who are ‘in and out’ boarding on occasions and training with various well-known professional trainers/producers depending on time of year.

Would be great to have someone who knows a fair bit already but with an open mind to learn from trainers/producers when the opportunity presents itself 😉

Accommodation is fabulous in terms of quality with 2 bedrooms/1 bathroom. Set within a Grade II listed barn conversion, it is fully equipped with all mod cons plus Wifi/garden/working fireplace/Aga in the kitchen/ luxurious shower room/airy sitting room, open-plan design. The barn is private with its own entrance.

 

 

This position would suit a cheerful, motivated person with a GSOH, responsible and diligent, knowing when to step up and step back are equally as important.

Lovely, relaxed set up on just less than 40 acres with excellent hacking but no menage on site, ( but one very close by which has floodlights and can be rented).

The successful candidate will be required to:

Horse duties

• Provide stable and horse management -daily mucking out/ feeding/exercising/ grooming /tack cleaning /keeping tack rooms and other horse-related areas clean and organised
• Decent standard of turnout required for the various disciplines, (including clipping to a good level)
• Should be competent enough as a Rider to exercise hunt horses and ride out with daughter/employers
• Take responsibility for cleaning, organising, packing horse lorries.
• To organise and help daughter with taking horses to/ from school and competitions, training etc
• Exercising and turning hunt horses out for hunting Autumn/ Winter (1/2 x a week and summer showing, daughters events etc.)
• Administrate memberships/ entries for various organisations eg BSPS, BE etc., working with employers’ secretary

Person Friday duties

•  Perform light household duties (eg: fill and empty dishwasher/put on washing machine and hang laundry/vacuum boot room, kitchen and family area
• Walk and feed family dogs on the odd occasion when employer not available (two Labradors and a Jack Russell)
• Check sheep when employer on the odd occasion (about 20 sheep) Just involves checking they are ok/water trough etc. and there is someone to escalate any issues to.
