Ref: JL152018
Job Description
Primarily we require a dedicated horse person to join us full-time and take the lead in managing and developing a small group of Thoroughbreds. In addition to this, we also require housekeeping duties, pet-sitting, gardening and estate maintenance. For this reason this role would suit a working couple.
As a family that breeds racehorses, we currently have horses of varying ages that are either yet to start their racing careers or have returned home from racing due to injury. Our aim is to give the ex-racehorses successful second careers by producing them into well-rounded, trustworthy riding horses with foundations across all disciplines.
The youngstock coming through the yard need handling, breaking-in and riding away. There is also the opportunity to take charge of breeding and foaling for the right candidate.
This is an exciting and varied role requiring an experienced, aspirational individual who genuinely loves working closely with horses, treating each one individually to bring out the best in them and taking pride in developing them from the ground up.
This is a hands-on role and all yard duties will be expected, including:
– Daily horse care and welfare
– Monitoring horse health and wellbeing
– Preparing stables and maintaining yard cleanliness to a high standard
For the right couple this role can be expanded to accommodate work for two people depending on skills.
