*Salary range £30- £35K pa *Discretionary, generous end-of-year bonus *Chance to broaden & learn new skills and have interesting new experiences
🙂 Live in or live out 🙂
We have placed several staff with these employers over the years and many are still in situ with the feedback in all respects extremely positive. ‘Lovely family, a great place to work, nice people, more than fair remuneration’. The lovely, friendly and inclusive Managers of all things equestrian and in the animal centre were also placed by us!
This would be a great role for someone with animal care experience beyond horses and someone wanting a new challenge!
Based within easy reach of Heathrow, Windsor and London, we are looking for Zookeeping/Petting farm Staff for this family yard with animal interests at the heart of their leisure time when in the UK. On this family estate, they keep a variety of interesting animals as pets, but to a professional standard of care and welfare eg: Penguins/meerkats/various birds/wallabies/giant guinea pigs/ rabbits etc.
The estate houses some 200/300 staff and is a very sociable environment with an onsite gym/many running buddies & a real communal atmosphere.
A ‘can do’ attitude and a happy easy-going character are essential. We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic, self-motivated and reliable. The ideal candidate would be someone who can work as part of a team but also on their own and shows good initiative.
Full training will be provided but in a fairly short period, you will be able to demonstrate knowledge of their specific domestic, farm & small animals and be confident but friendly enough to talk to the employer’s family, friends and associates and answer any questions knowledgeably. An animal-related qualification is ideal but not essential, practical experience is prized also.
With over 30 animals the job role includes but is not confined to:
- Daily feeding of all animals and food prep
- Enrichment to all animals/to ensure the animals are receiving the best care and treatment
- Cleaning and maintaining hygienic enclosures
- General husbandry
- Be able to administer first aid if/when plus medicine and provide basic medical care if needed on veterinary advice. The ability to give health checks and grooming is essential. Plus the keeping of records
This will not be a demanding role in terms of workload but will suit a particular type of individual, who ideally will be used to this kind of environment and will be willing to be on call when the family are in residence 2-3 times a year for a couple of months at a time. There will be months when things are quiet and the family are elsewhere, so then things will be much less demanding in terms of the on-call aspect but the animals and their homes will still need to be maintained to the highest standards. 10 hour days with paid breaks is the norm but when the family are in residence you will be ‘on call’ and will be generously remunerated accordingly.
You must drive as work trucks are used to get around the sites.
5 days per week
